Located on Gadigal and Bidjigal land (Randwick NSW), Black Dog Institute is the only Medical Research Institute in Australia to investigate mental health across the lifespan, our aim is to create a mentally healthier world for everyone. Desired Skills and Experience

The Role

As part of the People and Culture team this role will lead and drive the Learning and Development function at BDI. This role will be responsible for the implementation and management of the Learning and Development strategy and for measuring and building capability across all areas of the Institute in line with strategic priorities. The L&D Manager will initially focus on the ongoing implementation of a Learning Management System. The role will partner with internal and external stakeholders and vendors to develop, implement and manage learning solutions that meets the Institute’s objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities

Capability, Learning and Development

• Through partnering with the People and Culture and cross functional business teams, understand, identify and address organisational development needs to establish and drive L&D strategy.

• Establish and manage the Learning and development framework with a focus on leadership, coaching and talent management across the Institute.

• Coordinate and promote Manager engagement with a program of ongoing performance management

• Manage the Learning Management System to drive the implementation and maintenance of learning to provide great user experience and data collection

• Engage, manage and maintain a suite of external vendors to develop and/or deliver engaging learning programs

• Lead the delivery of training programs associated with project roll outs, mandatory compliance packages and other inhouse programs.

• Collaborate with external/internal stakeholders to create engaging and interactive e-learning modules, videos, and other digital content to deliver effective training experiences.

• Identify current and future learning needs and solutions to support cultural change and build capability within the organisation.

• Facilitate forums workshops and group training and promote opportunities in collaboration with Internal comms.

• Any other duties as required

Skills & Experience Required 

• A minimum 5 years of progressive relevant work experience in a similar role.

• Certificate IV Training and Assessment TAE40116 and/or a qualification in a relevant discipline with subsequent relevant experience.

• Demonstrated stakeholder engagement skills and diverse working groups/resources to achieve objectives.

• Experience with a LMS and developing a Learning and development framework

• Ability to generate and analyse various performance metrics using reporting tools.

• Working knowledge of online systems and HRIS platforms

• Experience with managing an LMS platform • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated competency to interact with people at all levels of the organisation

• A passion for learning and a genuine interest in helping others develop their skills and capabilities.

• Flexible and able to embrace change in a fast-paced environment
