Located on Gadigal and Bidjigal land (Randwick NSW), Black Dog Institute is the only Medical Research Institute in Australia to investigate mental health across the full lifespan, our aim is to create a mentally healthier world for everyone. The Role

The Workplace Engagement Manager role is pivotal in increasing engagement and uptake of the Black Dog Institute’s (BDI) Workplace Mental Health and Wellbeing ‘fee for service’ training programs, products, and services. The role primarily focuses on inbound consultative sales and ongoing client account relationship management and engagement.

The role sits within the Workplace Team, as part of the broader Service Engagement and Operations department. The Workplace Team is responsible for the end-to-end client engagement and delivery of all BDI workplace training programs, products, and services.

The purpose of the Service Engagement and Operations department is to deliver evidence-based services at scale to manage and prevent common mental health conditions and suicide in workplaces, schools, health settings and the wider community. Services include training programs, resources, digital products and platforms, and consultancy. To ensure sustainable growth, the Service Engagement and Operations Department leads the development and continuous improvement of resourcing, systems, and processes to manage delivery of BDI services at scale.

Duties & Responsibilities

Consultative Sales Engagement & Relationship Management

• New Business and ongoing client Account Management to meet individual and Team KPIs

• Respond to inbound training enquiries and consulting with potential new clients, includes:

  • qualifying leads, establishing client objectives/needs analysis, and identifying relevant solutions and scopes of work
  • supporting with guidance on BDI’s free tools and resources
  • generating training proposals and quotations according to established templates and pricing structures
  • closing sales and transitioning to delivery implementation

• Create and maintain relationships with client organisations and other professional partners and external stakeholders as applicable

• Lead generation and promotion of BDI workplace products, training programs and services at key conferences and networking events

• Work with internal stakeholders to complete Tender applications, where applicable

Program Delivery & Implementation

• Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal delivery stakeholders (Client Liaison Officers, Resource Development, Delivery Network, Operations and Evaluation teams)

• Overarching responsibility for all client management and successful implementation of program deliverables, client admin and invoicing

Team Engagement and Collaboration

• Work collaboratively with the Marcomms business partner and the Workplace Team to promote BDI’s Workplace Mental Health and Wellbeing programs and value-add webinars to clients/new client leads

• Contribute to formulation and implementation of the Workplace Team’s annual strategic and operational plan and procedures

Skills & Experience Required 

Essential Criteria

1. Experience in operating within a high-volume sales environment with a Consultative Sales focus and approach

2. Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role

3. Excellent networking, consultation, liaison, and negotiation skills, with proven ability to identify and establish new business

4. Degree in Business, Psychology, Management, Marketing or related discipline

5. Demonstrated ability to manage projects and all aspects of program delivery to deadline and budget/targets

6. Proven ability to work independently and contribute effectively as a team member

7. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

8. High level computer literacy across MS Office suite, Sales Force or other CRM based programs

9. A knowledge of EEO principles and OH&S responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant OH&S training

Desirable Criteria

1. Relevant experience and/or knowledge of the workplace mental health and wellbeing/mental health sector
