The Role
The purpose of the Senior Grants Engagement Manager is to lead the management and growth of the Institute’s grant portfolio across workplace, education, health, and government sectors, as well as grants from philanthropic donors. This role is responsible for securing new funding opportunities, ensuring effective grant delivery, and fostering strong sector engagement to maximise impact.
Leading a team of engagement and grant professionals, this role provides strategic direction, oversees day-to-day operations, and ensures grant-funded programs meet performance targets
Duties & Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Management
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engagement and grant professionals, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
• Foster a high-performance culture, providing guidance on best practices in grant management, stakeholder engagement, and financial oversight.
• Ensure the team effectively manages grant-related activities, sector partnerships, and funding compliance.
Grant Acquisition and Management
• Identify and secure new grant opportunities, including government grants, workplace, education, health, and philanthropic funding.
• Co-write compelling grant proposals in collaboration with internal teams, ensuring alignment with funding criteria and strategic priorities.
• Oversee the onboarding and setup of new grants, ensuring clear objectives, budgets, and operational frameworks are established.
• Manage the day-to-day execution of grant activities, including sector engagement, bookings, and program delivery to meet grant targets.
Stakeholder and Sector Engagement
• Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, corporate partners, education providers, and philanthropic donors.
• Act as a key liaison with grant providers, ensuring regular communication, reporting, and compliance with funding agreements.
• Work closely with internal teams to ensure grant-funded programs are effectively integrated into broader engagement strategies.
Financial Oversight and Reporting
• Oversee grant budgets, tracking financial drawdowns and ensuring funds are allocated efficiently and transparently.
• Develop and deliver regular reports for grant stakeholders, including funders, internal leadership, and sector partners. • Monitor KPIs and impact metrics, providing insights to improve grant performance and inform future funding applications.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential Criteria
1. Tertiary qualification in Business, Management, Health, or a related field partnered with demonstrated experience in grant acquisition and management, with a strong understanding of government grants.
2. Exceptional grant writing skills, with the ability to develop persuasive proposals and funding applications.
3. Strong leadership and people management experience, with a track record of developing and leading teams.
4. Experience in sector engagement, particularly within workplace, education, health, and government sectors.
5. Strong financial acumen, with the ability to manage budgets and oversee grant financials.
6. Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage with funders, partners, and internal teams.
7. Strong organisational skills, with the ability to track, report, and deliver against grant requirements.
Desirable Criteria
1. Experience in a not-for-profit, medical research institute, or health services organisation
