The Role
The purpose of the Senior Product Manager is to lead the development, and management of key strategic digital products—such as websites and applications—that translate cutting-edge mental health research into accessible, effective, and scalable solutions.
The Senior Product Manager will collaborate closely with research teams, UX/UI designers, third-party developers, service implementation, and marketing teams to ensure seamless product development and deployment ensuring strong alignment with Black Dog Institutes strategic objectives and overall mission and vision.
Duties & Responsibilities
Product Strategy and Roadmap Development
• Support in defining and executing a clear product vision and strategy that aligns with the organisation's mission to translate research into impactful societal solutions at scale.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive product roadmap that balances short-term deliverables with long-term strategic goals.
Product Lifecycle Management
• Own the end-to-end product lifecycle, from ideation through development, launch, and post-launch optimisation.
• Prioritise product features and initiatives based on business objectives, user feedback, and resource considerations.
Budget and Resource Management
• Manage budgets and resources effectively to ensure efficient product development and delivery.
• Collaborate with finance, grants and leadership teams to align budgeting with organisational priorities and funding commitments.
Cross-Functional Leadership
• Lead and inspire cross-functional teams including Research, Design (UX/UI), Development, Service Implementation, and Marketing to deliver user-centric products.
• Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and accountability.
Market and User Research
• Conduct comprehensive market analysis and user research to identify opportunities, understand user needs, and inform product decisions.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies to ensure products remain relevant.
• Be the ‘voice of the customer’ and represent that voice across the organisation
Data-Driven Decision Making
• Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product performance, user engagement, and impact on mental health outcomes.
• Utilise data analytics to inform product enhancements, validate hypotheses, and drive continuous improvement.
Emerging Technology Integration
• Explore, assess, and integrate emerging technologies, such as AI, to enhance product development and product offerings
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to pilot and implement innovative solutions.
Stakeholder Engagement
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with organisational goals and seamless product rollouts.
• Engage with external partners, including third-party developers and research institutions, to leverage expertise and resources.
Planning and Reporting
• Contribute to strategic, operational, and business planning processes.
• Develop and deliver comprehensive reporting for all products in the portfolio
Skills & Experience Required
1. Tertiary qualification in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field partnered with a minimum of seven(7). years' experience in product development or management, with a proven track record of launching and managing successful digital products.
2. Strong technical acumen, including knowledge of product architecture and the ability to make informed technical decisions.
3. Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams in a collaborative environment.
4. Experience with quality assurance and continuous improvement frameworks.
5. Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
6. Experience with agile methodologies, lean startup principles, and design thinking.
7. Proficiency in data-driven decision-making and analytics tools.
8. Background in software development across diverse projects
