Located on the lands of the Bidiagal Clan of the Dharawal Nation (Randwick, NSW), Black Dog Institute is the only Medical Research Institute in Australia to investigate mental health across the full lifespan, our aim is to create a mentally healthier world for everyone. For over 20 years, we have been at the forefront of mental health research and have maintained a reputation as the face of mental health research and treatment in Australia. 

Through our unique ‘translational’ research approach, we turn our world-class research into treatments, prevention strategies, clinical services, educational programs, and e-health products. Desired Skills and Experience

The Role

The purpose of the Service Engagement and Operations department is to deliver evidenced-based services at scale to manage and prevent common mental health conditions and suicide in workplaces, schools, health settings and the wider community. Services include digital products and platforms, training, resources, and consultancy.
To ensure sustainable growth, the Service Engagement and Operations Department leads the development and continuous improvement of resourcing, systems and processes to manage delivery of services at scale.
The purpose of this position is to increase engagement with Black Dog Institute’s mental health and wellbeing training, products and services primarily across healthcare, schools, and community settings.

Duties & Responsibilities

Promotion and Relationships
• Proactively identify and approach potential clients, qualify leads, close sales.
• Promote BDI services via client meetings, attendance at relevant conferences and networking events, EDMs, flyers, website updates, and external advertisements.
• Identify, establish and maintain relationships with relevant internal stakeholders (research, clinic, corporate functions).
• Create and maintain strategic business relationships with external stakeholders, professional partners, client organisations and accrediting bodies.
• Work with internal stakeholders to write applications for tenders and grants to support the delivery of BDI services.
• Identify and write applications for sector awards to have BDI services recognised nationally.
 

Program Delivery
• Project manage key grants, contracts and programs to ensure deliverables and reporting requirements are met.
• Respond to training enquiries from clients, establishing scope of work and objectives, generating training proposals and quotations in accordance with established templates and pricing structures.
• Working closely with the Operations and Marcomms teams, manage program promotion, event delivery and invoicing.
• Work closely with the Resource Development team to customise and contextualise program content as appropriate for clients.
• Support budget management
• Project manage program accreditation requirements as required, working with Resource & Development, and Operations Teams.
• Work with the Operations Team to provide support for face-to-face and zoom meetings as required.
 

Planning and Reporting
• Contribute to formulation and implementation of Education Team strategic, operational and business plans, budgets and unit procedures.
• Contribute to reports on education programs and activity for the Board and Annual Report; fulfil reporting requirements to external funding bodies.
 

Work, Health and Safety
• Ensure compliance with all WHS legislation WHS Policy and Procedures
• Report any WHS hazards and significant issues to Senior Grants Engagement Manager, People & Culture or delegate
• Work in a safe manner, applying a duty of care

Skills & Experience Required 

Essential Criteria
1. Degree in Business, Psychology, Management, Marketing or related discipline
2. Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role
3. Excellent networking, consultation, liaison and negotiation skills, with proven ability to identify and establish new business.
4. Demonstrated ability to manage projects and all aspects of program delivery to deadline and budget/targets.
5. Proven ability to work independently and contribute effectively as a team member.
6. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
7. Experience in operating within a high-volume sales environment that focus on Consultative Sales Approach.
8. High level computer literacy across MS Office suite and other CRM based programs.
9. A knowledge of EEO principles and OH&S responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant OH&S training.
 

Desirable Criteria
1. Relevant experience in mental health and/or the primary health sector
