Located on the lands of the Bidiagal Clan of the Dharawal Nation (Randwick, NSW), Black Dog Institute is the only Medical Research Institute in Australia to investigate mental health across the lifespan, our aim is to create a mentally healthier world for everyone. For the past 20 years, we have been at the forefront of mental health research. Leveraging our own research, we have developed an image and workplace that is reflective of our values and mission. Our work is used to distributed through the public and is used to drive evidence informed change across the mental health sector, setting the foundation for a brighter and healthier future for all.

The Role
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and operating as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, this role provides strategic and operational leadership across the People & Culture function during a period of significant organisational change.
The interim Director will play a critical role in:
- Leading a major Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) initiative aligned to organisational strategy and values
- Managing and embedding a new affiliate agreement with a university partner, including workforce, governance and employee relations considerations
- Leading a capable People & Culture team as it continues to embed values‑led ways of working across the organisation
The successful candidate will bring:
- Extensive experience operating at executive level in complex environments
- Strong capability in change leadership, employee relations, stakeholder engagement and culture transformation
- A collaborative and inclusive leadership approach, sound judgement, and the ability to provide clear, considered advice in ambiguous and evolving contexts
