Desired Skills and Experience

The Role

The Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Trainer will play a key role working with colleagues in the Neurostimulation Team to delivery the practical training components of our TMS Course. The position will be primarily responsible for training clients on TMS procedures to a prescribed credentialing standard to ensure that trainees have the working and practical knowledge to perform TMS procedures competently and safely. While based at the Black Dog Institute, the role will also involve travelling to clients’ facilities to deliver the training. The role will also be responsible for training new staff/personnel and recredentialing of existing staff at the Black Dog Institute’s TMS Clinic and within the Neurostimulation Team.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

TMS Training

  • Conduct TMS training and credentialing onsite and offsite for external clients.
  • Conduct inhouse TMS training and credentialing of BDI clinic and research staff.
  • Deliver practical workshops at the Black Dog Institute’s TMS Course as part of the facilitator team.
  • Provide a supportive training environment to achieve training outcomes.


Client relations

  • Work with Service Engagement & Operations team to promptly respond to client enquiries.
  • Liaise with clients to develop training schedules.
  • Promptly respond to client concerns and feedback.


Administration

  • Work with Service Engagement & Operations team and Marketing & Communications teams to promote training services and expand client base.
  • Liaise with Service Engagement & Operations team as needed regarding administrative tasks (e.g., invoicing, training evaluations, client certification).
  • Arrange travel bookings as needed.
  • Assist in preparation of RANZP applications to ensure continued endorsement of TMS training courses.


Work, Health and Safety

  • Ensure self-compliance with all WHS legislation and BDI WHS Policy and Procedures.
  • Report any WHS hazards and significant issues to Director, People & Culture, or delegate.
  • Work In a safe manner, applying duty of care.

Selection Criteria

Essential Criteria

  1. A university degree in a related discipline (e.g., nursing, neuroscience); or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training or experience.
  2. Demonstrated high proficiency in administering TMS procedures (i.e., resting motor threshold and treatment procedures).
  3. Knowledge of latest applicable professional practice guidelines, consensus recommendations, and regulations governing TMS as a clinical treatment.
  4. Knowledge of latest research developments in the area of TMS and neurostimulation as a clinical treatment.
  5. Excellent oral communication, interpersonal and instruction skills.
  6. Adaptability to train people with various levels of experience and expertise in TMS.
  7. Ability to travel to deliver TMS training.
  8. Participate in continuing professional development activities to keep up to date with latest research findings and TMS practices.

Desirable Criteria

  1. Previous experience conducting training in TMS procedures.
